Phipps CDC’s Educational Services
to Grow
The Rhodebeck Charitable Trust offered a challenge grant in August
2006 towards the $800,000 cost of building a 6,000 square foot Community
Education Center in La Puerta de Vitalidad, Phipps Houses’
61-unit apartment building in the Melrose neighborhood of the Bronx.

I write this I am struck by how much has changed in the 17+ years
that I have been at Phipps Houses…and still how much has remained
the same. For the former, New York is at the near-zenith of a renaissance
that started in the Koch administration. more

Greening
Program partners with BRAC to produce EcoMedia classes
EcoMedia
classes provide a means of teaching science through the arts. Phipps
CDC and its community partner the Bronx River Art Center (BRAC)
offered an exciting new public education program for the West Farms
community. more

Phipps Houses on Winning Team
for “Green” Housing in the Bronx
On
January 17th the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development
(HPD) announced the winners of a design competition for affordable,
environmentally sustainable housing in the Bronx. more
