Phipps CDC is accepting applications for the Phipps Psychology Externship Program. Doctoral students in Psychology can apply for a 10-12 month externship to provide mental health services and referrals for youth and adults of low-income communities in the Bronx. Externships are scheduled to begin in September.
- Gain experience in individual psychotherapy, group therapy, and evaluation for various client/program tracks
- Participate in regular case conferences, workshops and seminars on topics relevant to training
- Opt for additional therapy case or training experience outside of your chosen track
Program Structure
- Six client tracks to choose from:
- Early Childhood
- Elementary School
- Early Adolescent / School
- Combined Adolescent / Adult
- Combined Adult / Elderly
- Court-involved Young Adult
- Service for 10-12 months at 16 hours per week
- Individual supervision from a licensed psychologist two hours per week
Extern Requirements
- Doctoral student in Psychology
- Availability September 2010 - June 2011
(option to remain through July and August, if desired)
- Commitment of 16 hours per week
(option to divide time between two or three days)
