VIA VERDE BREAKS GROUND

On Monday, May 3rd, Phipps Houses celebrated the groundbreaking of Via Verde, a green, affordable housing development in the Melrose section of the Bronx! The event was hosted by the City and the Via Verde development team of Phipps Houses, Jonathan Rose Companies, Dattner Architects and Grimshaw Architects.

The day was even more special as Via Verde was the backdrop for the announcement of an important milestone in the City’s housing plan: the creation of 100,000 affordable units. Speakers included Mayor Bloomberg, Bronx Borough President Diaz, HPD Commissioner Cestero, HUD Secretary Donovan and prominent officials celebrating the New Housing Marketplace Plan, which has achieved well over half its 165,000-unit goal.

TWO PHIPPS BUILDINGS TO BE AMONG LARGEST MULTIFAMILY ENERGY STAR PROJECTS IN THE COUNTRY

The Phipps Houses pipeline continues to forge ahead with two large projects that will revitalize entire blocks in the South Bronx, as well as meet criteria for sustainability and Energy Star certification. Phipps Houses' Courtlandt Corners and Roscoe C. Brown Jr. Apartments are featured in the current issue of Party Walls, the monthly online publication of Steven Winter Associates, an architectural/engineering research and consulting firm specializing in green technologies and procedures. Read about the two projects.
