Keyla Peña's journey at Bronx Leadership Academy led her to Phipps. Through participating in the Summer Youth Employment Program and Work, Learn & Grow, Keyla gained valuable professional skills and a sense of belonging. As a recipient of the Phipps' Ronay Menschel Scholarship, she is now pursuing her passion for cardiovascular scenography at Eastwick College. This scholarship has been a lifeline, enabling Keyla to overcome financial obstacles.

Leonora Friday found stability and hope as a Phipps Houses resident. Assisted by our case managers, Leonora relieved financial burdens, accessed rental support, received vital food resources, and personalized assistance with education and leadership opportunities. In 2024, we celebrate Leonora's upcoming graduation with a B.A. in Human Services. Supporting the entire family, Phipps also connected Leonora's son, Matthew, to the Claremont Tennis program, where he excelled, securing a full-ride scholarship to Manhattanville College.

Santos Lara has proudly called the Bronx home for over a decade, running a small business selling fruits and vegetables. However, the persistent rise in prices led him to make constant sacrifices to support his family. Three years ago, Santos connected with the Healthy Families program. From overcoming language barriers to assistance with food stamps, retirement preparation, disability checks, and aid in translating critical letters, Phipps became his anchor; he no longer navigates life's challenges alone.

A determined Bronx native, Ashlyn Paneto thrived in Phipps' Career Network: Healthcare (CNH) program. Her exceptional skills secured her a role as a Customer Service Representative at Montefiore Hospital upon completion. Recognized for her dedication, she rose to the role of Customer Service Supervisor. Armed with invaluable tools from CNH, Ashlyn effortlessly tackles challenges, ignites creativity, and adeptly manages high volumes of patient inquiries. Additionally, she generously mentors current CNH students during their internships at the hospital.

Jennifer Fernandez discovered our early childhood education program for her four-year-old twins, Blake and Gavin. She was captivated by the focus on social-emotional learning and speech development with an engaging, hands-on curriculum. Her bright stars can already write their names and recognize shapes, coming home every day to share their adventures and special bonds with their teachers. The incredible growth Blake and Gavin have experienced is a testament to the nurturing environment provided by our dedicated educators.

Tyron's journey with the West Farms Beacon Program began in the 3rd grade, and he has been committed to personal development and community connection ever since. As a teen, Tyron became a member of the Youth Council and volunteered to make a positive impact on his community. He participated in our Counselor in Training (CIT) and College Access Programs, ensuring he is ready for higher education and beyond. From a 3rd grader to an active young adult, Tyron exemplifies the transformative power Phipps programs have through different stages of life.
