Building Careers, Futures, and Community Through Hands-On Experience

Phipps’ Work, Learn, Grow (WLG) program is a specialized extension of the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) open to participants aged 16-21 enrolled in selected partnered public schools in New York City.  The WLG program is designed to strengthen work readiness skills, explore career options, and provide academic support for young individuals while getting paid.

Program Benefits

  • College Readiness: Gain new skills and receive supportive resources to smoothly navigate the leap from high school to further education.
  • Skill-Building Activities: Get assistance in creating standout resumes, cover letters, along with interview skills. Learn essential job readiness skills and workplace etiquette.
  • Earn College Credit: Get the chance to do College Now course at CUNY and earn college credits.
  • Career Exploration: Flex your research skills and discover new career possibilities.
  • Paid Internship: Hands-on experience through a paid internship in a variety of industries tailored to meet your interests!

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Between the ages of 16-21
  • Enrolled in selected public school (Must have partnership agreement with Phipps)
  • A participant of the 2024 SYEP Program
